Live Oak Canyon

Just imagine crisp cool autumn mornings. The smell of smoke from chimneys fills the air. Trees began to paint their leaves in hues of reds, golden yellows, oranges and browns as they fall to the ground. The air is calm as a breeze blows and dances around you as you stroll your neighborhood pumpkin patch filled with many photo ops, great food and carnival rides. That sounds pretty great right!? Well I live in sunny Socal and unfortunately that kind of fall doesn't exist here , however we do have amazing pumpkin patches that encompass the meaning of fall and autumn harvest. Live Oak Canyon truly brings to life a beautiful pumpkin patch experience with plenty of great fun features for an entire family to enjoy and an added bonus my wheelchair was able to maneuver around quite a bit in most spaces. Although not fully ada compliant it is still manageable.

When I think of fall time the first thought that comes to mind are always pumpkin patches. The rustic feel, the smell of hay bells surrounded by rich warm hues illuminated from orange pumpkins, colorful scarecrows, and sunflower fields paint a picturesque scene. From the moment you start your journey at Live Oak your greeted by a corn maze que and a large pumpkin structure opening your gateway to many options and photo ops.

A petting zoo off to the left, a u-pick pumpkin area the cutest general store, carnival attractions and many amazing photos ops await you as you enter. As we entered we were greeted by Wilhelmina who was an absolute pleasure. She was extremely polite and friendly and even offered us tips about moving around the area in my chair. " Sometimes it's easier to pull " would be the best advice in some areas. They are ada friendly however the particular wheels on my chair are not all terrain so I can struggle with some surfaces so please keep that in mind when planning your vist.

From the ease of parking down to how quickly it was to enter the largest pumpkin patch shows they are not new to hosting. Staff had all hands on deck and were very friendly and polite. My family definitely enjoyed our time together. With so much to see and do we easily spent four hours bonding and having fun. In areas that deemed unsuccessful for my chair I was able to walk comfortably through with my cane and assistance from family. One major highlight even in the hottest part of the day we were able to find nice shady places to sit in all the nooks and crannies Live Oak had to offer.

During our visit we did get a little hungry and ventured towards food, games, and rides. I was pleasantly surprised by the variety and amount of options you could choose from. Myself and my bonus mom Lesley opted for quesidillas and a burrito while my mom opted for a corn dog. Everything was hot fresh and delicious. We came prepared with our own bottles of water and on this day did not make it to dessert. I personally did not use the restroom here but there are port-a-pottys located throughout the property and were being cleaned regularly.

As we dined the happy sounds of kids riding the little rollercoaster in the distance filled the area on one side as cheers from adults at the hay hoist game echoed from the right. Their excitement had me eager to join in on the fun. We had a funcard in hand and were ready. We strolled the fair games and saw quite a bit of family fun options. Pirate blaster definitely was calling our names. We even checked out the map and ticket costs prior to deciding the best option for ourselves. Please note certain attractions have different ticket prices so my tip, plan ahead so you know exactly how much you want on your fun card.

The winning ticket for my family was the cutest buzzing bee train. At first we were excited to go on a hayride but that option was thrown out the minute the bee train pulled up. Although I did not personally partake in this attraction both my mom and Lesley enjoyed their adventure. They toured the farm and even ventured down to an area with illuminated pumpkins that greeted those that passed by on the freeway. It was definitely a sight to be seen.

Live Oak Canyon is truly a place that brings to life a postcard worthy autumn setting. The large corn maze, beautiful sunflower fields, an abundance of photo ops, petting zoos and more will truly bring families together. They have brought to life a marvelous pumpkin patch experience and I look forward to seeing what they bring this Christmas season. Live Oak Canyon is open daily through the month of October. So what are you waiting for!? Put on your spooky best and head out to Live Oak Canyon this fall. Visit https://liveoakcanyon.com/calendar-2/ to see hours and prices.
